GA Lawmaker Calls For Probe Into Fulton DA Amid Misconduct Allegations
Georgia Sen. Greg Dolezal filed legislation Monday that would establish a special panel to investigate Fulton District Attorney Fani Willis.

ATLANTA β Another Georgia lawmaker is calling for a review of Fulton District Attorney Fani Willis amid questions over involvement in an improper relationship with her top prosecutor, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Monday.
Republican Sen. Greg Dolezal of Cumming filed legislation Monday that would establish a special panel to investigate Willis, the outlet reported.
Willis faces questions over her relationship with Nathan Wade, a top prosecutor she hired in the racketeering and election interference case against former U.S. President Donald J. Trump.

Trump and 18 others are accused of trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in Georgia. They were indicted in August 2023 and subsequently surrendered to the Fulton County Jail on several charges.
The news of Dolezal's proposed legislation comes amid reports that Willis may have to testify in Wade's divorce proceedings.

However, Fox 5 Atlanta reported Cobb County Superior Court Judge Henry Thompson ruled Monday that Willis will not yet have to testify in the proceedings, issuing a stay on the deposition on Willis.
Dolezal is one of three lawmakers calling for a probe into Willis and her alleged actions since Trump's indictment.
U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-GA, filed a complaint on Jan. 10 with Gov. Brian Kemp and Attorney General Chris Carr's offices, accusing Willis of criminal misconduct in the racketeering case against Trump.
Georgia Sen. Colton Moore, on Aug. 17, 2023 sent Kemp a letter requesting a special session that will review and respond to Willis' actions. Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger was CC'd on the letter.
The U.S. House Judiciary Committee began investigating Willis on Aug. 24, 2023 after chairman Rep. Jim Jordan accused Willis of infringing upon Trump's free speech, and that of his defendants.
