  1. Georgia United Credit Union recently broke ground on a location in Cumming. The planned state-of-the-art 3,000-square-foot branch will be located at 731 Atlanta Hwy. The Cumming branch will feature more parking, easier access, and more visibility for the credit union on the Atlanta Highway. Georgia United Executive Vice President Laura King said, "We’re not simply moving to a different location in Cumming, we’re building a new experience for members ... [by] combining the latest innovations in digital banking technology with the hometown feel of our award-winning personalized service." (PR Web)
  2. Forsyth County has experienced areas of built-up traffic this week due to the repaving of county roads. Crews were working to widen Browns Bridge Road and paving took place on Thursday which caused some traffic. Today, Jan. 27, commuters in the area can expect paving at Highway 9, just south of SR 369, which will cause lane closures and delays. (The Georgia Sun)
  3. A new Lidl location is expected to open in Cumming in early 2024. The grocery chain will be located at The Shops at Kelly Mill (4335 Bethelview Road). According to Lidl's Senior Manager of Communications & Public Relations, Chandler Spivey, "Our teams are working through finalizing and getting the store ready to go for opening."   4. A young woman with autism is expanding her entrepreneurial endeavor into Cumming. Jordyn Moore, a 21-year-old who was born with autism and verbal apraxia, helps run her family's t-shirt company, Jordyn's Summer Shirt Project. What started as a project for Moore to learn new skills and works when she was younger, has amounted to 2 million followers on TikTok and customers in all 50 states. Moore's family recently moved their operations to Cumming, where they have a larger warehouse space. (CBS News)
