Georgia Weather Forecast: Can't Shake Storm Threat This Week

Another August week starts and ends with a chance for storms, with mostly sunny skies otherwise, according to forecasters.

There's only a chance for thunderstorms this week, but some of the storms will produce gusty winds and frequent lightning, according to the National Weather Service.

The best chance for storms is Wednesday, but there's a threat throughout the week.

We'll have a windy Monday, keeping the high temperature at 88 degrees. We'll warm to low 90s by the weekend.

Also this week, storm watchers will be monitoring a pair of storm systems in the Atlantic. As we enter the peak for the Atlantic hurricane season, forecasters are predicting a year that is more active than normal.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 88. North wind 5 to 10 mph.

Tuesday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 89. East wind around 5 mph.

Wednesday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 89.

Thursday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 90.

Friday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 91.

Saturday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 91.
