In Memoriam: Jack Hood, 86

Jack Hood, age 86, of Cumming, GA passed away at his home on Saturday, July 13, 2013.

Jack is preceded in death by his daughter Sandra Hood White. He is survived by his wife, Geneva Ward Hood, grandsons Shane and Danette White of Cumming; Justin White of Cheyenne, WY; and Adam White of San Diego, CA and three great grand children Dakota White, Hunter White and Makayla White.

Jack graduated from Louisville High School in Louisville, GA, served in the United States Navy during World War II and fought battles in Guam and Iwo Jima. He was a long term member of Gideon International and a member of Mountain View Baptist Church in Snellville, GA. Jack served Atlanta working in the fire department and worked his way through the ranks from Battalion Chief to Deputy Chief.

Jack’s greatest achievement was last Thursday, July 11, when he celebrated 60 years of marriage to his lovely wife Geneva.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 18 from 6 until 8 p.m. His service will be held at McDonald and Son Funeral Home on Friday, July 19 at 11 a.m. Interment services will follow at Gray Hill Cemetery in Commerce. The Atlanta Fire Department will serve as pallbearers.
