Join Cumming Patch for Runoff Election Coverage

Today many Forsyth County residents will once again head to the polls to vote in the Primary runoff election races and turnout is expected to be good.

"I expect it to be pretty steady," said Barbara Luth, supervisor of the . "I really do believe they will come out and vote.

On the ballot:

• District 4 Commissioner, between Cindy Mills and Patrick Bell (incumbent). Mills received 44.16 percent of the votes and Bell took 26.71 percent.

• Sheriff, between Ted Paxton (incumbent) and Duane Piper. Paxton received 47.64 percent of the votes and Piper took 27.40 percent.

• Coroner, between Mary Beth Pais and Harold Bennett. Pais received 43.31 percent of the votes and Bennett took 33.39 percent.

• U.S. Representative in 113th Congress from the 9th Congressional District between Martha Zoller and Doug Collins. Zoller received 48.56 percent of the vote and Collins took 36.74 percent.

As of Friday, Aug. 17, the registrations & elections department reports:

• Advance Voting Totals - 3618
• Early Voting Totals - 326
• Absentee Ballots by mail returned - 466
  

"For a runoff election that is mighty good," said Luth.
