Jury Acquits Man in Forsyth Car Bombing

No direct evidence linked the Johns Creek man to the July 2012 incident, according to his attorney.

A juryΒ FridayΒ in CummingΒ acquitted a Johns Creek man who had beenΒ accused ofΒ making and igniting a homemade bomb at a south Forsyth County car dealership.Β 

Quinton Gregory Smith, 35, who was arrested in connection with the July 2012 incident, was found not guilty of arson, criminal damage and use of an explosive charges afterΒ deliberating for 10 hours or more, reports the Forsyth News.

Smith had been employed by a parking vendor atΒ RBMΒ ofΒ Atlanta-North Mercedes-Benz, but was fired the day before someone tried to detonate on a carΒ a glass jar filled with some type of flammable compound about 5:30 a.m. The car, which sustained front bumperΒ damage,Β belonged to the man who fired Smith.

While the state's caseΒ was a strongΒ circumstantial one, no direct evidence linked Smith to bombing attempt, according to his attorney,Β Kea Strozier, reports the Associated Press.
