Lake Lanier Death Was Intentional, Forsyth Authorities Say

A body was found floating near the Six Mile Creek boat ramp before firefighters recovered the dead woman from Lake Lanier, authorities said.

CUMMING, GA β€” A person's recent death at Lake Lanier was intentional, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said Friday.

Authorities said the body of 56-year-old Murtuza Sayani, of Lilburn, was pulled from the lake around 6:30 p.m. Thursday. They received a call that a body had been floating near the Six Mile Creek boat ramp, authorities said.

After authorities determined Sayani was dead, the sheriff's office said firefighters then retrieved the victim and brought her ashore.

No foul play is suspected, and Sayani's death was an "intentional act," authorities said. They confirmed to Patch that the person died by suicide.

The sheriff's office did not release further details.

Lake Lanier goes through Buford, Cumming and Gainesville.
