The accident happened when a Hyundai Elantra crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a HINO truck carrying compressed CO2 and CO2 containers, causing both vehicles to flip. During their March 2 meeting, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners officially recognized Mar. 3 as Employee Appreciation Day as a way to celebrate the hard work and dedication of the county's government employees. The Board highlighted contributions made by water and sewer experts, Roads and Bridges workers, first responders, planning developers, and administrative and support staff, among others. Commissioner Laura Semanson read the proclamation, which praised the County's employees for their tireless efforts to exceed expectations, provide essential services, and make Forsyth County the best community in Georgia. The County further expressed its gratitude towards its staff by sharing a video on its website. (Forsyth County Georgia)
  4. Former Forsyth County Jail deputy and Georgia police officer Miles Bryant has officially been charged with the kidnapping and murder of 16-year-old Susana Morales, whose body was found in Dacula in July 2022. Investigators have not disclosed a motive for the murder, but have stated that Bryant is "known or suspected of" committing rape, murder, and other felonies. Bryant, who had lost his police credentials, faces charges of murder, kidnapping, concealing Morales' death, and filing a false report of a crime, though no charges related to rape have been brought yet. Bryant allegedly attempted to hide Morales' death between Jul. 26 and 27, 2022, by "hindering the discovery of whether she was unlawfully killed."
