Manhunt Underway for Escaped Inmates

A manhunt is underway for two men who escaped from a work release program in Hall County, according to authorities.

The men are identified as Joseph Dale McAllister, 38, of Cleveland and Randall Darryl Ladd, 35, of Gainesville. 

A press release stated, sheriff's deputies responded to a call just after noon on Sunday in the area of Ponderosa Farm Road in south Hall County regarding two suspicious men. One of the men was allegedly going door-to-door because his vehicle had run out of gas. When deputies arrived, one man fled on foot and the other was not located. A check of the vehicle registration revealed that it was registered to a suspect who was wanted for failing to return to work release, a felony.

The sheriff's office along with K9 teams and the Georgia State Patrol Aviation Unit tracked the suspects for a considerable distance before losing the track. The eventually called off the search just after 4 p.m.

McAllister and Ladd, who were both employed as landscapers, left their work release detail on Wednesday, Sept. 18, and failed to return at the appointed time. 

McAllister is 6 feet, 1 inch tall, weighing 205 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Ladd is 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighing 195 pounds, with red/blonde hair and hazel eyes.
