MARTA, in cooperation with the Federal Transit Administration, is holding a public meeting at Alpharetta City Hall, Thursday, Sept.26, to solicit community input on the potential expansion of transit service and improved mobility along GA. 400, one of metro Atlanta’s most congested, fast-growing corridors.

An Open House will be held from 6:30 toΒ 7:30 p.m., followed by an hour-long presentation. Information about the study will be on display andΒ MARTAΒ staff will be available to get feedback, review the project’s progress, discuss next steps and answer questions. Alpharetta City Hall is located at 2 Main St., 30009.

An announcement said the GA 400 study has identified a set of alternatives for possible transit improvements in the corridorβ€”such as light-rail, heavy-rail and bus rapid transitβ€”as part of an alternatives analysis that is needed to qualify for federal funding participation.Β MARTAΒ is proceeding with the evaluation of these alternatives as part of an early scoping process required by the National Environmental Policies Act. Β  Β

The potential transit alternatives areΒ onlyΒ being evaluated at this time, the statement said. No determination about a preferred alternative or action has been made, nor have funding sources been identified. Information about these alternatives, including costs and projected ridership, also willΒ be available.
