(NNO in Forsyth County, 2012)
Get to know your Forsyth County neighbors and those sworn to "serve and protect" during tonight's 30th annual National Night Out (NNO). The annual event, held at Target stores throughout the country, is geared to increase crime prevention awareness.Β
Join the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office tonight from 6-8 at the Super Target located at 1525 Market Place Boulevard in Cumming.
Those who attend will be treated to car seat safety brochures, crime prevention tips and much more. See several law enforcement vehicles, including the SWAT truck, motorcycles and patrol cars. Also, the K9 unit will be on hand.
Tonight's event brings together the law enforcement community with residents."
Only about 20 percent of all the citizens actually come into contact with a deputy through the course of their year," said Doug Rainwater, deputy sheriff of the FCSO. "This is just a way for us to get to know them and for the community to get to know us."
The National Association of Town Watch sponsors National Night Out. Last year more than 15,000 communities and 37 million people across the country participated in the event. This year's NNO is expected to be the largest, as it is the 30th anniversary of the program.
