New RaceTrac Set for Cumming's Peachtree Parkway
The gas station and convenience store at the corner of Ronald Reagan Boulevard will be nearly 6,000 square feet and include coffee and yogurt bars, indoor and outdoor seating and free Wi-Fi.
Atlanta-based RaceTrac is planning to build a new convenience store and gas station in Cumming, Forsyth County spokeswoman Michelle Vaughan tells Patch.
Plans for the new 5,928-square-foot store at 510 Peachtree Parkway—at the corner of Peachtree Parkway and Ronald Reagan Boulevard—were approved in June, but building permits haven't been "pulled," Vaughan added.
The new gas station will be about 4 miles from the existing RaceTrac on Buford Highway near GA 400 in Cumming, and include a number of offerings, according to documents related to the site plans, such as:
- Food service options including fresh fruit, deli sandwiches and baked goods;
- A coffee bar;
- Indoor seating;
- Free Wi-Fi;
- Outdoor seating;
- A yogurt bar with 10 flavors and 40-plus toppings; and
- 12 fresh-brewed teas and 24 frozen beverage flavors.
Apparently one of RaceTrac's new store designs, the second Cumming location—construction of which is set to begin in the coming weeks—also will offer a wider selection of beer and wine, according to tonetoatl.com. It's set to open in the first quarter of 2014.
Last year, RaceTrac opened a 6,000-square-foot store in nearby Acworth that was to serve as the prototype for all new RaceTrac stations, according to Acworth Patch. It includes a beer cave offering 50-plus brands and employs at least 20 workers.
Privately-held corporation RaceTrac Petroleum operates more than 525 RaceTrac and RaceWay stores in 12 southeastern states.
A company spokesman hasn't yet returned a call seeking comment from Cumming Patch.
