Man Dies In Cumming Head-On Crash Thursday
An 87-year-old man was killed Thursday while he was traveling as a passenger in a head-on, two-car collision.

FORSYTH COUNTY, GA — An 87-year-old man was killed Thursday while he was traveling as a passenger in a head-on, two-car collision. The two drivers in the crash were transported to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and Fire Department were dispatched to Canton Highway, at about noon, just east of Carla Drive regarding a two-car, head-on crash.
The investigation at this point has determined that a 2002 Lexus GS300, operated by 26-year-old Brandon Schneider, of Cumming, was traveling west on Canton Highway. The 2002 Lexus crossed over the painted yellow median and struck a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze which was traveling east on Canton Highway.

The 2013 Chevrolet Cruze was being operated by Bunia Lathem, 74, from Cumming, and her front seat passenger was Connie Mack "Doc" Lathem, 87.

According to Deputy First Class Phil Alexander, Traffic Investigator with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, Connie Mack Lathem was transported by ambulance to North Fulton Hospital and was pronounced deceased July 20, from injuries sustained in the car crash.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the FCSO Traffic Specialist Unit. Charges pending
the outcome of the investigation.
