Residents Can Learn About Georgia 400 Toll Plaza Demolition
The State Road and Tollway Authority has set four public input meetings plans to informed residents about the tolls ending on the state highway that runs through Cumming.

Georgia's plan toΒ end toll collection and demolish the toll boothsΒ along Georgia 400Β will be the topic of discussion at four upcoming public information meetings, two of which are set for Cumming.
TheΒ StateΒ Road and Tollway AuthorityΒ has scheduled the meetings to give residents information on plans to end the practice of collectingΒ tolls and to remove the booths along Georgia 400 in Buckhead.Β
The state is set to pay off its bond debt and halt collecting tolls on the state highway by the end of the year. The ending date is tentatively set for the week before Thanksgiving.Β
The meetings are scheduled for:
- Tuesday, Sept. 24:Β 4 toΒ 7 p.m. at theΒ Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce,Β 11605 Haynes Bridge Road, Suite 100, Alpharetta.
- Thursday, Oct. 3:Β 5 toΒ 8 p.m. atΒ Central Park Recreation Center,Β 2300 Keith Bridge Road, Cumming.
- Thursday, Oct. 17:Β 4 toΒ 7 p.m. atΒ Piney Grove Middle School,Β 8135 Majors Road, Cumming.
- Thursday, Oct. 24:Β 4 toΒ 7 p.m. atΒ Crowne Plaza Ravinia,Β 4355 Ashford Dunwoody Road, Atlanta.
SRTA notes the cost of the project is $4.5 million, andΒ $3.5 million of the costΒ covers construction associated with the demolition.Β
Newnan-basedΒ Southeastern Site Development, Inc. was tapped to perform the project, which will be managed by the Georgia Department of Transportation.
