“DFC Thaxton still had no leads until February 2012, when he received more reliable information that Rojo was in the Chicago area,” said Lt. Col. Smith.
The new information was relayed to the U.S. Marshals Service in that city, and on March 6 of this year, Rojo was arrested in Cook County, Illinois. He was extradited back to Forsyth County on March 22 and is currently in custody at the awaiting trial.
“Although the case was worked by many different individuals in both the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and the United States Marshals Service, it was the diligent efforts and excellent investigation techniques of DFC Thaxton that eventually brought this fugitive to justice,” Lt. Col. Smith said.
DFC Thaxton has been with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office since February 2005 and is currently assigned to the Warrant Unit, Support Services Division.
