Sheriff's Office Seeks Public Comments As Part Of Accreditation
The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office seeks public comments as part of an advanced accreditation for the sheriff's department.

CUMMING, GA β Sheriff Ron H. Freeman announced recently that a team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc., or CALEA, will arrive Dec. 9, to examine all aspects of the Forsyth County Sheriffβs Office policy and procedures, management, operations, and support services.
Verification by the team that the Forsyth County Sheriffβs Office meets the Commissionβs state-of-the-art standards is part of a voluntary process to gain advanced accreditationβa highly prized recognition of public safety professional excellence, he said. As part of the assessment, agency personnel and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session on December 10, 2018 at 5 p.m. The session will be conducted in the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners Auditorium located at 110 East Main Street Cumming Ga. 30040.
If for some reason an individual cannot speak at the public information session but would still like to provide comments to the assessment team, he/she may do so by telephone. The public may call 770 205- 4678 Dec. 10, between the hours of 2 and 3 p.m.

Sheriff Freeman said he chose the Advanced CALEA Accreditation process as a guide for the agency
in meeting the modern challenges before us. This process will insure the citizens of Forsyth County that the agency is meeting or exceeding the highest standards and best practices in the world.
Advanced Accreditation is for four years, during which time the agency must submit annual reports attesting continued compliance with those standards under which it was initially accredited.
