Speeding A Factor In Fatal Forsyth Crash, Sheriff Says

A 72-year-old woman died Sunday in a Forsyth County crash after authorities say a driver was speeding and could not stop for a red light.

FORSYTH COUNTY, GA β€” A 72-year-old Dawsonville woman was killed in a weekend crash after a driver going too fast to stop for a red light hit her car, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said Monday.

Authorities said the crash, occurring around 9:30 a.m. Sunday, claimed the life of Julie Waters Lamb.

Lamb was driving a blue 2014 Toyota Rav4 as she crossed GA-400 at its intersection with Jot 'Em Down Road, authorities said. She was heading north, and when the light turned red, authorities said she obeyed the signal and began crossing to go west on Jot 'Em Down.

A black 2019 Ford F-150 driven by a 30-year-old Dahlonega man was "traveling at a speed that made it impossible for him to stop for the red traffic signal," authorities said.

The F-150 hit Lamb's Toyota, killing her at the scene, authorities said.
