Tanker Full of Cooking Oil Overturns, Lane Closure Expected
One lane of Highway 369 will be closed for two or three days.

A tanker truck overturned this morning in Forsyth CountyΒ and due to its proximity to Lake Lanier, will necessitate a lane closure for two or three days.
The driver, who was taken to Northside Hospital Forsyth with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries, ran off HighwayΒ 369 eastboundΒ between Jot Em Down and Little Mill about 10:30 a.m., according to Forsyth County Sheriff's Office Maj. Rick Doyle. He did so to avoid hitting stopped traffic, Doyle said, although it's unclear if the tanker had some type of malfunction or if the driver made an error.
The tanker's contents spilled into a marshy area that feeds into Lake Lanier, Doyle said.Β The truck was carrying animal fat, which leaked into a nearby creek, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
The spill was contained and the trucking company has hired aΒ private contractor toΒ clean itΒ up under the supervision of the Environmental Protection Agency.
The cleanupΒ will require one lane ofΒ HighwayΒ 369βa two-lane roadβbe shutΒ down for two to threeΒ days.
Motorists are asked toΒ plan an alternate route to avoid delays.
What's the best alternative to avoid traffic and delays?
