Volunteers Sought for 2013 Lake Lanier Shore Sweep
The sweep nets an average of 30-pus tons of trash and other debris removed from the lake and the shoreline each year.
Volunteers with and without boats are encouraged to sign up in advance to participate in the Lake Lanier Association’s 25th annual Shore Sweep Saturday, Sept. 28.
Th Shore Sweep nets an average of 30-pus tons of trash and other debris removed from the lake and the shoreline each year, according to the Lake Lanier Association.
Eleven locations lake-wide are participating including Aqualand, Bald Ridge, Gainesville, Habersham, Holiday, Lanier Harbor, Port Royale, Sunrise Cove marinas, Lake Lanier Islands, Clarks Bridge, and War Hill Parks.
The clean up will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers will report to a participating location to pick up trash bags and a shore line area assignment for trash collection. All volunteers turning in at least one full bag of trash receive a T-shirt.

Advance registration for the event is not required, but it helps the association in scheduling shoreline coverage.
Volunteers planning to participate are asked to send an email to lakeinfo@lakelanier.org.
