uperior Performance Spotlight:Β ForsythΒ Central HS Chamber Singers provided the Board with a wonderful demonstration of their students performing a 9/11 tribute. They are under the direction of Lisa Belk, Choral Director.

Highlights of Presentation and Discussion ItemsΒ Β 

The following items were presented to the Board:Β 

2014-15 District Lines Draft #1:Β The Board was provided information on Draft #1 of district lines for the 2014-15Β schoolΒ year.Β This fallΒ ForsythΒ CountyΒ SchoolsΒ is redistricting for next year to relieve overcrowding and populate existingΒ schools. Mountain Education Charter HighΒ School:Β As a part of Academies of Creative Education, beginning January 2014, the district has contracted with Mountain Education Center, Inc. (MEC) to provide a full-time and part-time nightΒ schoolΒ for our students. The goal is to increase the graduation rate of students who are at risk, and initial credit will also be available. Policy JGFGB (Concussion Management):Β The Board was provided information on a new policy regarding concussion management.Β During the most recent Georgia General Assembly, state legislators approved the Return to Play Act of 2013. This new law requires all GeorgiaΒ schoolsystems to have an approved Concussion Management Policy. This policy is required forΒ ForsythΒ CountyΒ SchoolsΒ to be compliant with the law. SchoolΒ Counselors' RAMP Application Presentation:Β SchoolΒ counselors from NorthΒ ForsythΒ HS presented information about their RAMP program results.Β As a requirement for their application for RAMP (Recognized ASCA Model Program) designation, the NorthForsythΒ HS counselors presented data that demonstrate their program results. Finance Report:Β As of August, the Board learned the system is at 17.39 percent for the budget year. The Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax revenues for July 2013 were down 4.59 percent from July 2012 collections and down 2.44 percent from last month.Β AΒ financial statement, investment reports, and bond summaries were also shared, as well as a detailed capital projects analysis.

Lanier Technical College Dual Enrollment MOU:

TheΒ Board approved a Memorandum of Understanding with Lanier Technical College in regards to dual enrollment for the 2013-14Β schoolΒ year. The purpose of this Dual Enrollment-HOPE Program Agreement to Participate is to present the administrative guidelines for this program set forth by the Georgia Department of Education (GADOE) Division of Career Technical and Agricultural Education and the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG).
