CUMMING, GA β A Utah woman in town with her fiancee for a wedding was killed Friday after a 17-year-old driver jumped the sidewalk and hit the couple from behind, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said Monday.
The fatal crash happened around 10 a.m. at the intersection of Majors Road and Ronald Reagan Boulevard. Authorities said the teenage boy, who was heading to school, was driving a 2012 Acura MDX northbound on Ronald Reagan.
The boy was attempting to turn left onto Majors, but authorities said he could not safely do so, likely due to speed. The Acura then went onto the sidewalk and hit Leslie Schwendiman and her fiancee, who had been walking on the sidewalk, authorities said.
