Woman's Body Discovered In Lake Lanier, Investigation Underway

HALL COUNTY, GA – A fisherman discovered the body of an adult woman in the water at the shore in Lake Lanier, just off of Ga. 347/Lanier IslandsParkway. Her name and age are being withheld until next of kin is notified.

At approximately 12:05 p.m. on Friday Hall County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the report of body a few yards away from a small parking area near the entrance to Lake Lanier Islands.

During the preliminary investigation, Hall County Sheriff’s Office investigators tentatively identified the woman and determined that her vehicle remained in the parking area near where the body was found.

Along with the Sheriff’s Office, personnel with Hall County Fire Services, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, or DNR, and the U.S. Army Corps responded to the scene. DNR assisted the Sheriff’s Office in recovering the woman from the water. The body was sent to the DeKalb County Medical Examiner for an autopsy.

The death remains under investigation by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.
