WWII Vets to be Honored in Cumming
The event will feature a flyby by a historic fighter aircraft used in the conflict.

Local World War II veterans will be honored at an event in Cumming on Monday, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday.
The sheriff’s office was invited to participate in the event, which is scheduled to run from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Chick-fil-A in the Lanier Crossing shopping center on Atlanta Road, the office’s Facebook page reports.
A special feature of Monday’s event will be a flyby performed by a vintage P-51D Mustang, an American fighter aircraft that became the terror of Hitler’s Luftwaffe and the savior of countless bomber crews when it was finally equipped with a British Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, the same kind used in the legendary Supermarine Spitfire.
