- A collection of state and local civil voting rights groups have accused Gwinnett County's elections board of violating federal voter registration law. The groups sent a letter to the board on Thursday urging the board to stop hearing voter registration challenges until after the 2022 General Election. The letter states that the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 restricts an elections board from hearing voter registration challenges within 90 days of a federal election. - The Gwinnett County Department of Water Resources has announced that a Public Meeting will be held on Nov. 9 at the department's Central Facility Training Room in nearby Lawrenceville. The 6:00 p.m. meeting is meant to discuss a proposed project for the installation of a biosolids dryer project at the F. Wayne Hill Water Resources Center. The department will be collecting written commentary about the proposal from the community. (Subscription: Gwinnett Daily Post)
- A Dacula family has been displaced after a plugged-in leaf blower caused a house fire on Saturday night. The fire occurred on River Pass Court around 8:14 p.m. Responding crews were able to contain the fire within 20 minutes. One adult occupant was transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation. Five adults and a child were displaced. (Georgia Sun)
