Here are the top stories today in Dacula:

  1. Officials in Gwinnett County have announced it is hiring 2,500 people to work at the upcoming election. There will be nine hiring events set up to help keep the expected crowds organized and the process moving quickly. Poll officials can receive a stipend of up to $390 for their contributions to the community. For more information about the requirements and where to apply, click the link. (On Common Ground News)
  2. Hebron Christian played a critical role in the latest win by the Lions, and it looks like just the beginning of a stellar season. Going up against rivals Oconee County, Christian and his team defeated them 35-28. This means that as of now, the Lions have a perfect record for the season. They currently stand with a season record of 6-0. (Scorebook Live)
  3. The Wind Advisory announced by the National Weather Service in regards to Tropical Storm Ian still stands throughout Dacula and the state. Winds are gusting up to 35 miles an hour, causing damage to structures and making driving extremely dangerous. There is also a fire warning, as the powerful winds can spread flames quickly. Although Ian has been downgraded from a hurricane to a tropical storm, extreme caution is still advised. (Patch)
  4. The Touchdown Club of Gwinnett has honored some of its best high school football players in a special ceremony. The best football players of September got to enjoy a Wednesday night event with some local sports luminaries standing by. Jayden Bethea, Simeon Boulware, Christian Ingram, and Chuma Okoye were the athletes from Dacula to receive commendations. Tally Johnson, Central head football coach and member of the Gwinnett County Sports Hall of Fame, was the featured speaker for the event. (Gwinnettdailypost.com)
