  1. A Gwinnett County K9 deputy handler has been released from the hospital. The handler, whose name has not been released to the public, received treatment for injuries sustained during a police chase that occurred on Friday evening on Sweetwater Road. Suspect 34-year-old James Edward Perkins shot the deputy handler during a traffic stop in a stolen vehicle; Perkins is currently in critical condition at Northside Hospital Gwinnett as of Sunday evening.   3. The Gwinnett County Board of Education has voted to approve the appointment of three principals. Jeanne “Jeannie” Hidalgo will serve as principal for Dacula High School.
