(Update) Mattie's Call: Missing Elderly Man Located

Gwinnett Police say was found just after midnight at a gas station on Beaver Ruin Road.

UPDATE: Shortly after midnight on Aug. 27, officers assigned to the Central Precinct were dispatched to a LOCATED Missing Person call at the Marathon Gas Station located at 2070 Beaver Ruin Road.

James Leathers, age 79, was found in good health.

The vehicle being driven by the missing person was also recovered.

Gwinnett Police have issued the following Mattie’s Call alert for the missing 80-year-old Buford-area man:

“Gwinnett Police are currently investigating a missing person case. At approximately 3PM, Gwinnett Police responded to the area of Buford Drive near South Lee Street in Buford.

Police made contact with the missing persons son. According to the son, he left his father in the parking lot in an air conditioned truck while he went inside for a short doctors visit. At some point, his father drove off in his truck. His father does not live in Georgia and has difficulty standing. He is also experiencing the middle stages of dementia. A Mattie’s call has been initiated.”

Missing Person:

James Leathers

  • 80 year old white male
  • 5’11”
  • 170lbs
  • Blue eyes/Gray hair
  • Clean shaved
  • Last seen wearing Blue jeans, black and white striped polo

Vehicle Description:

  • Silver 2002 Ford Ranger 4x4
