Mill Creek Schools Briefly Locked Down As Cops Chased Suspect

Gwinnett Police said a suspected car thief fled on foot and K-9 units were used to find him.

Three Mill Creek-area schools were locked down for a brief time Thursday morning as Gwinnett Police searched for an alleged car thief.

Mill Creek High, Osborne Middle and Duncan Creek Elementary were locked down as a precaution, the school district said on Facebook. By 10 a.m., the lockdown had been lifted.

Gwinnett Police public information officer Cpl. Michele Pihera said a suspect fled on foot from a stolen vehicle, and police used K-9 dogs to track him in the woods.

The suspect was captured and the lockdown was lifted.
