Here are the top three stories today in Dacula:

  1. Gwinnett County residents scramble for the Monkeypox vaccine as Georgia cases increase. The state has distributed vaccines in Gwinnett, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, and Fulton counties to combat the contagious disease but supplies are not enough. Appointments for the county's vaccination clinics were filled within hours of online registration. The state has 213 confirmed cases of Monkeypox as of Monday. (GPB)
  2. Gwinnett County Public Schools staff will likely be required to wear masks at the start of the 2022-2023 school year. The district required its staff to wear masks at the beginning of the week as the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention designated the county as a location of high COVID-19 transmission. More than 20,000 employees will be required to wear masks if the transmission levels do not get better before the Aug. 3 start date. (Washington Post)
  3. Gwinnett County is warning residents to stop as school buses unload children. According to the county, roughly 14,000 drivers fail to stop for school buses each year. The district's school buses will be hitting the streets next week as the school year begins. Failing to stop while a bus unloads could lead to the death of a child. Just slow down and stop. (WSBTV)
