GWINNETT COUNTY, GA β€” Gwinnett County police need the public’s help identifying the owner of a ladder that set off a six-car pileup on Interstate 85 that killed a Dacula man.

Norman Daugherty of Dacula died of injuries he received on March 25 when a car struck a ladder on I-85 near Beaver Ruin Road, causing the car to lose control and swerve in front of other vehicles. Although those vehicles were able to stop, more vehicles behind them couldn’t stop, which led to the accident.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported at the time that the accident involved two tractor-trailers, three cars and an SUV. The accident also blocked northbound traffic on I-85 for nearly three hours, forcing vehicles to be rerouted off the interstate.
