  1. A new report issued by the Center on Reinventing Public Education indicates that 31 percent of big city school districts will continue the use of remote learning options first established during the COVID-19 pandemic. Gwinnett County Public Schools is included in that 31 percent statistic. The school district has expanded remote learning options due to increased demand from parents. (Fox News)
  2. The Biden Administration has announced it will be sending up to 5,500 doses of monkeypox vaccines to Georgia in response to upcoming Black Pride events. The vaccines will be distributed through Gwinnett County during the Labor Day Weekend. The Gwinnett County Health Department is reportedly cooperating with a variety of local organizations to distribute informational material about monkeypox. (Whitehouse.gov)
  3. Gwinnett County's Community Services Department is asking for an increase in funding for the county's 2023 budget. The requested $1.43 million increase would be used to create 18 full-time positions and four part-time positions. The funds would also be used to purchase vehicles for animal welfare and enforcement.   • The Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office will be holding a press conference tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. at its Administrative Building.   • Gwinnett County will be hosting Kid & Parent Night Out on Friday, Sep. 2 at 6:00 p.m. at Mountain Park. The event will allow children to enjoy the pool while parents participate in activities next door. The event is five dollars for county residents. (Gwinnett County)
