Here are the top three stories today in and around Dacula:

  1. Gwinnett County Public School has a few new facility improvements and additions this school year. Berkmar, Creekland, Grace Snell, Moore, Radloff and Twin Rivers middle schools have new STEM labs. Lanier, Meadowcreek, Norcross, Peachtree Ridge and Shiloh high schools have new theater seating. Seckinger High School is also opening. The 2022-2023 school year begins on Aug. 3. (Gwinnettdailypost.com)
  2. Gwinnett County Public Schools will once again be charging for school lunches. The last time the district charged for lunches was the 2019-2020 school year. The U.S. Department of Agriculture previously provided a free breakfast and lunch waiver to schools. Students that qualify for reduced-price lunches will still receive a free breakfast. (Gwinnett Daily Post)
  3. Emergency services in the metro Atlanta area are reportedly experiencing delays. The two main causes of the delays are non-emergency calls and high call volumes. Emergency services are reminding Gwinnett County residents to only dial 911 for emergencies. (11 Alive)
