Here are the top three stories in Dacula today:

  1. Gwinnett County is installing traffic safety cameras to deter drivers from speeding through school zones. The cameras will catch speeding drivers near six county schools. For the first month, drivers will be given a warning. Fines will then be issued the next month. (WSBTV)
  2. The Gwinnett County Police Department is expanding its Behavioral Health Unit. The unit will be expanded from two individuals to 12. The unit was created in July 2021 and has seen great success. The unit is meant to provide de-escalation strategies for individuals in crisis. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
  3. Dacula's Maple Creek Park on McMillian Road was closed yesterday. The City of Dacula announced the closure through a post on its website on Thursday. Maintenance was the reason for the closure. The park features a disc golf course, a playground, a walking trail, and a pavilion. (City of Dacula)
