5 Things to Know Today: June 20, 2012
Put on the shorts and tank top! Summer has really arrived.

Good morning, Decatur and Avondale Estates. It's Wednesday, June 20, and here are five things you need to know before you start your day.
1. It's officially summer. The exact time of the summer solstice (the longest day of the year) will be 7:08 p.m., when the sun is the farthest north in the sky and directly above the Tropic of Cancer. In Decatur and Avondale Estates, sunrise is at 6:27 a.m. and sunset at 8:51 p.m. Skies will be sunny with a high around 90 degrees.
2. It's National Lambrusco Day! Lambrusco is a dry, slightly sparkling red wine from Italy, normally consumed durng the hot summer months. in Decatur will hold a wine tasting from 5 to 7 p.m., then move the festivities to the courtyard for bluegrass and the debut of the new ping pong table.

3. As regular as the seasons, the Decatur's Farmers Market will be held Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Buy fresh vegetables, fruits and other foods at 163 Clairemont Ave., at the intersection with Commerce Drive.
4. The Avondale Estates City Commission meets at 5:30 p.m. in City Hall. There will be a first reading of the 2012-13 millage rate, which is unchanged from this fiscal year.

5. Tell me a story. Kids 6-12 are invited to story telling at Biffle Cabin at 720 W. Trinity Place to hear Cathy Kaemmerlen introduce them to Itty Bitty Betty, a bee who tells stories and collects gossip. It costs $4 unless you have a summer ticket.
