Sunday in the Garden this weekend at Woodlands Garden in Decatur

Dear Friends,

It's been a very dramatic few weeks here at Woodlands where it has felt more like a construction site than a garden. Orange fences, caution cones, people in hard hats, big equipment and the demolition made for an exciting scene. Now the old family home has been removed to create an open space at the heart of the garden, and we can begin to imagine what will happen there next. I'll attach a few photos below, and we'll have a slide show of the process available for you to see during your next visit.

We will host Sunday in the Garden as scheduled this Sunday, 2-4pm. We're pleased to announce the return to the Pavilion of The Ukulele Society of Decatur for a lively and interesting musical experience. The group has been playing together at different venues for the last five years, and the musicians, Lynda Anderson, John Anderson, Doug Alison and Pete Senkowski, have played together in various ensembles for over 25 years. The Ukulele Society of Decatur plays a wide variety of music on this most versatile instrument, and they love playing and promoting the ukulele wherever they go.

The entire deconstruction process might not be quite finished by Sunday. If so, parts of the garden will be closed to foot traffic, and the equipment might take up a few of our parking spaces. We strongly encourage you to walk or bike if you can, and we will direct you to nearby off-site parking if needed. You'll see the newly opened space at the center of the garden, and it's worth the trip just to see the Devil's Walking Stick in bloom!
