Here are the top three stories in Decatur-Avondale Estates today:

1. Want to explore some local food without all the crowds? The Punk Foodie's underground dining calendar features several pop-ups in Avondale Estates. Starting this weekend and running through Tuesday, Chef B. Wilson will be bringing comfort food to Wild Heaven Beer. You can also head over to Olive & Pine for some gorditas tomorrow afternoon. 2. The Princeton Review recently released its annual ranking of The Best 388 Colleges, as rated by students ⁠— and a Decatur college made the list. Agnes Scott College nabbed the No. 1 spot for "Town-Gown Relations Are Great" (meaning, "how well students get along with the town"). The full rankings can be found here. (WGHP FOX8 Greensboro)
3. The community is mourning the loss of Captain Michael Dwayne Hackney, USMC. 38-year-old Hackney, formerly of Decatur, passed away on Aug. 15 at home surrounded by family. Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur, followed by a 3 p.m. funeral service. (Legacy.com)
