Bands kicks off its 33rd season with "Holidays on Peachtree Street",
featuring seasonal selections that highlight the landmarks along our city's
most famous street. Peachtree Street is always aglow with holiday lights and
happenings. Our program takes us from the elegance of the Fox Theatre to the
dizzying heights of the Westin Peachtree Plaza hotel. Along the way we take in
the madness of the DragonCon parade, the memory of Backstreet, and the mayhem
of SnowMageddon.&nbsp;
AFB will stage its
largest concert band yet with over 90 musicians on stage! We will also welcome
special guests from our friends at Voices of Note!
AFB will welcome
Victoria Lemos as your host and tour guide to all the sights. Victoria hosts
the Archive Atlanta podcast, and she is looking forward to telling you some of
the hidden histories behind these famous places. You will leave educated and
entertained!
The tenth season of
AFB’s Student Composer Residency Program will kick off with the premiere
of “Midnight Snowfall”, a new work by Jacob Cirabisi, a music major at the
University of West Georgia. You won’t want to miss the chance to meet this
up-and-coming compositional talent.

Step into a world where music tells stories and imagination takes center stage! The DeKalb Symphony Orchestra’s Annual Children’s Concert invites families, dreamers, and adventurers of all ages to a magical afternoon of symphonic discovery.
This year’s highlight is Prokofiev’s beloved Peter and the Wolf, brought vividly to life with graceful dancers from the Decatur School of Ballet and the delightful narration of Robert Shaw-Smith, whose storytelling will guide listeners through Peter’s daring woodland adventure. Each instrument becomes a character—chirping bird, sly cat, brave boy—woven together in a performance that’s as enchanting to watch as it is to hear.
The program also includes sparkling selections from Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite, where trolls dance and mornings dawn in glorious color; Mozart’s lively Symphony No. 40, bursting with playful energy and elegance; and the unforgettable first notes of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, a musical mystery that has thrilled audiences for generations.

DeKalb Symphony Orchestra presents “Peter and the Wolf”

The City of Decatur (<a href="https://visitdecaturga.com/plan/getting-here/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">located just six miles outside of Downtown Atlanta</a>) is gearing up for soccer’s biggest matches coming to the United States, Canada and Mexico with <a href="https://decaturwatchfest26.com" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Decatur WatchFest ‘26</a>. The 34-day free soccer and music festival will connect Decatur to FIFA World Cup 26™ matches in June and July of 2026.&nbsp;
 The City created WatchFest ‘26 to welcome tourists visiting for the World Cup and encourage them to choose Decatur as their home base. Learn more about planning your visit at <a href="https://visitdecaturga.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Visit Decatur</a>.
Decatur visitors can enjoy more than 80 eating and drinking establishments, historic parks, walking and biking trails, and an award-winning central square that serves as its main gathering spot.
“Decatur will be the place to be when soccer kicks off in the Americas and we’re looking forward to hosting and entertaining visitors from around the world,” says Sherry Jackman, Executive Director, Decatur Tourism Bureau.
FIFA World Cup 26™ runs from June 11, 2026 through July 19, 2026, with eight matches taking place at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Easily accessible by MARTA, Atlanta’s rapid rail and bus system, Decatur will join greater Atlanta to celebrate the arrival of world class soccer to Atlanta.
Decatur WatchFest ‘26 will offer music, games, activities and food and beverages on and around the newly renovated Decatur Square as fans watch the world’s top soccer matches.

Soccer is huge in Decatur. From international viewing parties and pub crawls to Atlanta United and Decatur FC to the many recreational soccer leagues for adults and children, the four-square miles of Decatur are a soccer mecca. DecaturFC set a new WPSL attendance record twice in their inaugural season and was awarded franchise of the year (2024).

First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta is now accepting applications for the 2026 cohort of its Epiphany program, a faith-based social entrepreneurship incubator supporting startups tackling today’s most pressing challenges. Epiphany is an evergreen initiative that equips entrepreneurs developing innovative solutions to social issues with funding, mentorship, and strategic guidance. If you are an emerging founder with a vision to address societal challenges often overlooked by traditional markets, Epiphany offers the resources needed to help your venture grow. Examples of qualifying ventures include businesses that employ formerly incarcerated individuals or adults with developmental challenges, as well as enterprises offering services such as coding training for refugees or mechanical skills development in low-income communities. Since its launch, Epiphany has awarded nearly half a million dollars in grants and supported multiple successful ventures, including Refuge Coffee Co., PadSplit, and Purposeful Gourmet Foods.
