Decatur MLK Service Project Wants You
Group seeks volunteers for upcoming three-day project that helps seniors.
DECATUR, GA -- Every year around the third weekend of January, a group of Decatur residents band together to help the elderly in their communities. The effort is called the Decatur MLK Service Project, and this year it wants you.
The project is seeking volunteers for initiatives planned for this coming weekend, which will be capped off by Martin Luther King Day on Jan. 16.
The MLK Service Project was started in 2003 by the Decatur Preservation Alliance as a means to identify and take care of the needs of the community's elderly. Service initiatives include rehabbing a senior's home or picking up trash in a local park.
