Suspect Wanted In Decatur Shooting Turns Himself In (UPDATED)

Police say man involved in Dec. 28 incident was considered armed and dangerous.

DECATUR, GA -- Police in Decatur have a suspect in custody in connection to a shooting that occurred recently on Leyden Street at Mead Road.

Billy Lamont Parson Jr., 18, of Atlanta turned himself in Tuesday, according to a post local law enforcement shared on social media.

A warrant has been issued for for the incident, which occurred on Dec. 28, police said in a Facebook post.

“Officers arrived and located the victim, an adult male, with a gunshot wound to the groin,” Decatur police Lt. Jennifer Ross told Decaturish.com. “The victim initially stated he was robbed but then stated he got into an argument with a group of males over money he owed to someone but could not provide a name.”

A post from Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta said, "thanks to pressure" from the organization, Parson went to authorities and surrendered.

Police said that Parson was considered armed and dangerous. His description is as follows:

Height: approximately 5’5”

Weight: 110 lbs

Markings: Piercings in both ears and in the top of his right cheek.

“The victim is familiar with the suspects,” Ross was quoted as saying.
