Ready for Labor Day 2012?
Avondale Estates will hold its annual Labor Day 5K and 1-mile run/walk. Garbage pickup schedules will change. Public pools will close on Labor Day, making the unofficial end of summer.

Garbage pickup
In Decatur, regular service for Monday, Sept. 3, will be on Tuesday, Sept. 4. Service for Tuesday will be Wednesday, Sept. 5.

In Avondale Estates, normal Monday service will be Tuesday.
School holiday
The Decatur and DeKalb County school systems will be closed Monday and reopen Tuesday.
City halls closed
They will reopen Tuesday.
Swimming pools
Monday is the last day for public swimming pools, too.
In Decatur, Ebster pool has already closed, but Glenlake and McKoy pools will be open.
DeKalb County says four pools will be open Monday: Browns Mill Family Aquatic Center at 4929 Browns Mill Road, Lithonia; Lithonia Pool at 2501 Park Drive, Lithonia; Murphey Candler Pool at 1526 W. Nancy Creek Drive, Atlanta; and Medlock Pool at 874 Gaylemont Circle, Decatur.
