Decatur Schools Start Fall Break This Afternoon

Good morning, Decatur and Avondale Estates. Here are 5 Things to know about today.

1. No school for a week. The City Schools of Decatur start fall break when classes let out today. Kids will be off all next week and return to classes Monday, Sept. 17.

2. It's going to get noisy at Decatur High. The Bulldogs play their home operner against Therrell at 7:30 p.m. At 6 p.m., the annual Bulldog SpiritFest starts outside the stadium, complete with bands, cheerleaders and noisemakers of all sorts.

3. Renfroe Middle School fall carnival. This will be fun for the whole family. It starts at 5 p.m. at the school at 220 W. College Ave. Free.

4. Weather. Partly sunny with a 30-40 percent chance of showers. High in the upper 80s, lows around 70.

5. On this date. In 1996, rapper Tupac Shakur was shot in Las Vegas. He died six days later at age 25.
