  1. On Oct. 25, the City Schools of Decatur School Board proposed an update on the strategic planning process. Working in conjunction with the Georgia School Boards Association, board members hope to develop a clearer picture of the goals, priorities, and strategies of the school system going forward. Additionally, the district is reaching out to the community to engage them in the discussion and receive any input residents might have. (Decaturish.com )
  2. Crossing Guard Appreciate Week starts Nov. 7, and schools across the area are thanking these hard workers. These crossing guards have helped protect Glenwood Elementary students for years - and now the students have a great chance to thank them! Glenwood is encouraging children to create notes, cards, drawings, and baked goods to let their crossing guards know how appreciated they are. Gift cards are also welcome. 3. A popular Halloween-themed parade is returning to Decatur this weekend. Placita Latina and Haints and Saints are teaming up to resurrect the parade while adding a fun new twist. As a special way to celebrate the return of the parade, this year there will be a thrilling Dias de los Muertos theme! The parade is scheduled for Oct. 30. To learn more, visit the link.
