DeKalb's Operation Clean Sweep Begins Saturday

Countywide effort to beautify DeKalb kicks off at Wade Walker YMCA.

DECATUR, GA -- DeKalb County on Saturday will launch Operation Clean Sweep, an effort to beautify the county's blighted areas.

DeKalb CEO Michael Thurmond and other county leaders will be on hand for the kickoff at 8 a.m. at the Wade Walker YMCA.

The Clean Sweep initiative will concentrate on removing debris and trash from roads, drainage, and involve sanitation and public safety, the city said.

Several departments of DeKalb government will participate in the effort, which will include mowing grassy areas and litter removal.

Police and fire personnel will be on hand for safety reasons, the county said.
