Domestic Violence Info, Call To Action Event: DeKalb DA

DECATUR, GA — DeKalb County District Attorney Sherry Boston is holding the ninth annual Community Resource Fair and Symposium, according to a post on her Facebook page.

Boston shared the event alongside stats about domestic violence as October is National Domestic Violence Awareness month.

The symposium, titled "Building Bridges, Making Connections: Survivors on the Margin," will be an informative and engaging event, the DA said.

The event is on Monday, Oct. 28, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Decatur Recreation Center at 231 Sycamore St.

Complimentary breakfast begins at 8 a.m.

The presence of a gun in a domestic violence situation increases the chance of homicide by 500 percent, Boston said.

Boston shared information from the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, which said eight million days of paid work are lost each year due by victims of intimate partner violence.
