Homeless Person Trying To Stay Warm Causes Decatur Fire

Several Austin Drive storage units were damaged or destroyed in the fire, which investigators have ruled as accidental.

DECATUR, GA -- Two storage units were destroyed and several others were damaged when a homeless person trying to stay warm accidentally started a fire in Decatur. The fire was located at a storage unit facility on Austin Drive, according to the DeKalb County Fire Rescue Department.

Firefighters arrived to find smoke and flames showing from an open storage unit. The fire destroyed two units and several others suffered smoke and water damage.

Investigators have ruled the fire to be accidental, but the homeless person has been arrested.
