  1. On Oct. 25, the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners announced that a monument to the late Representative John Lewis will replace the Confederate obelisk formerly in Decatur Square. The obelisk was removed from the square back in 2020. In 2021, the John Lewis Commemorative Task Force chose the spot where the Confederate Obelisk had formerly stood as the location for the memorial site. The monument will be placed in front of the Historic DeKalb County Courthouse. (Decaturish.com)
  2. The DeKalb County Police Department is on the hunt for a suspect accused of being involved with the shooting of a police officer from Chamblee. The officer was shot during a car chase involving a stolen vehicle that was being driven by an individual suspected of armed robbery. Police say that at least one other suspect remains at large. The condition and identity of the officer remain unknown. (Decaturish.com )
