Three English Language Students from DeKalb County Recognized for Outstanding Academic Achievement

DEKALB COUNTY, GA - The Georgia Department of Education will recognize three students from high schools in the DeKalb County School District as one of Georgia’s English Learners at State Superintendent Richard Wood’s annual “Excellence in Achievement” award ceremony on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at the Georgia Department of Education in Atlanta. The “Star English Learner” award is given to ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) students who are either valedictorian or salutatorian of their 2016 graduating class.

The students are:

• Agnele Sylvia Sewa – Cross Keys HS
• Cung Nei Kim – Stone Mountain HS
• Alice Cer Tin Mawi – Clarkston HS

“We are very proud of this recognition for our diverse students,” said Dr. R. Stephen Green Superintendent of the DeKalb County School District. “Diversity is a strength of the District and we celebrate their contributions to our schools.”
