Here are the top three stories in East Cobb today:

  1. Cobb County Commissioner Monique Sheffield will be the featured speaker at the Cobb Chamber's Cobb Executive Women luncheon. The event will be held on Friday, Oct. 14 at 11:30 a.m. Registration for the luncheon will be open through Oct. 12. Click to register. (Cobb County Courier)
  2. The Multifamily Rental Housing Inspection Program has been approved by the Cobb County Board of Commissioners. The new code amendment will require landlords to inspect a quarter of multifamily rental property units each year. The inspections are meant to address the growing number of concerns regarding property neglect presented to the board throughout the last year. (11 Alive)
  3. Phase three of the South Barrett Reliever has begun. The project will provide drivers with an alternate route through Barrett parkway. Cobb County reports that the project will decrease traffic congestion through the busy corridor by 22 percent during peak hours. Phase three involves building a roadway from the Costco area along with bike lanes and crosswalks. (Cobb County)
