Blood Donors Needed In Holly Springs-Hickory Flat Area: Red Cross Drives Coming Up Soon

HOLLY SPRINGS-HICKORY FLAT, GA — The Red Cross urges eligible people to donate blood and platelets to address a critical supply shortage.

All types of blood donations are needed, but there is an especially large demand for Type O, which has dipped to as low as a one-day supply for the entire country in recent weeks.

The country’s blood supply has been strained by traumatic injuries and an increase in overdoses. Hospitals also are working through a backlog of elective surgeries, which often require blood products.

People who donate blood from Sept. 13-30 will receive a limited-edition college football T-shirt while supplies last. September's donors will also receive a free haircut coupon from Sport Clips Haircuts.
