In the month of December, Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services participated in the "Keep the Wreath Green" campaign. During that time, the department responded to eight structure fires which included residential and multi-family residential structures.

The purpose of this campaign is to remember to practice fire prevention during the holidays. It's the time of year when we enjoy festive meals with family and friends, deck our halls with colorful decorations, and hang our stockings by the fireplace. This is also the time of year that more fires occur due to extra time in the kitchen, Christmas lights, underwatered Christmas trees, candle usage, and use of fires in undermaintained chimneys. Wreaths were placed at different locations throughout the county such as Fire Stations, community areas, and schools.
